Here is a list of the Top 10 Fantasy Football Running Backs in 2017 based on ESPN’s fantasy football’s standard scoring settings.
There are three rankings metrics examined when looking at these Top 10 scoring Running Backs of 2017. All of these metrics only count data for 15 weeks of an NFL Fantasy Football season since BYE weeks don’t help anyone AND assuming you don’t play in week 17…which if you do find another league:
- The average number of fantasy points scored by a player over the course of 15 games in fantasy football season
- The average % of a time a player has scored double-digit points over the course of those 15 weeks
- The average number of double-digit points scored when a player has achieved a double-digit point total
The purpose of these metrics is to give you an idea of just how much the Top 10 overall scoring Running Backs in 2017 helped you on average during the course of a season, how consistent there were at helping you achieve double-digit points during a season, and when they did go off by how much.
Basically, with this information, you can start to understand the differences in not just WHAT a player scores, but HOW they do it and HOW often.
Over the course of the offseason, we’ll be providing you with more offensive skill-player content as well as content at other positions leading up to and through the 2018 Fantasy Football season.
Here is your Top 10 Running Back scoring data for 2017!
A few things. Todd Gurley absolutely balled OUT in 2017, we all know that. But look at the number for Ezekiel Elliot in terms of # of double-digit points scored when he had double-digit totals (20.1pts). Can you imagine if he had played a full 16 game season what his fantasy stats would have looked like?! With everyone focused on Gurley and Le’veon Bell this offseason in early mock drafts don’t even think for one moment on sleeping on Ezekiel Elliot in 2018…. unless he does something stupid again in which case we’ll discuss that later.
Carlos Hyde had an interesting year averaging double-digit points in standard leagues 47% of the time. In that time he averaged 15.3 fantasy points. While not as consistent as other backs he maintained steady flex appeal all season long and even maintained RB2 status in PPR leagues.
