Today, I want to write about a rookie I am extremely high on, Michael Penix, Jr. It was a real shocker on draft night when the Atlanta Falcons used their number 8 overall pick to draft Penix after paying Kirk Cousins a whole lot of money during the offseason. What makes this rookie so awesome to have on your dynasty team is that if you can do without him for a year or two on your taxi squad, he will be extremely valuable to your team. He is an older prospect coming out of college; this is true. He also had a few season-ending injuries in college, but the talent is there. To me, he has the best arm talent of all the other quarterbacks that were drafted in this year’s class.

I love walking away with Penix in the early 2nd round of rookie drafts. I would take him higher than that, depending on how my quarterback room looks. If I have the depth to keep him on my taxi squad for a year or two, I will draft him at the end of the first because I believe in the talent. For those who do not believe in the talent as much as I do, he will still be of great value at the beginning to middle of the 2nd round. I have been giving up 2025 1st round picks to acquire him in trades. Sometimes, I have walked away with giving up a 2025 2nd plus in other trades. The managers who are good targets to trade with are the ones with depth at QB.

Like I said earlier, I am a big Michael Penix believer whenever he gets on the field. I think that if the Atlanta Falcons had not drafted him, he would have been an immediate starter. In my opinion, he has the best arm in this draft class. I understand people’s injury concerns about him, but I am not as worried about it as most people are because he just played two seasons back to back with no major injuries, and the production was through the roof. He will be a great pro, and going to the Falcons with the weapons that he will eventually have at his disposal, I see him as at least a constant Top 12 quarterback when his time comes, which I do not see being any more than two years.
