2024 Rookie Profile: Bucky Irving

2024 Rookie Profile: Bucky Irving| Fantasy In Frames

What is up, my people?  It’s your boy Chris Burns, aka Dynasty Deviant, back at it again, bringing you another installment of the Fantasy In Frames Rookie Profile Series for 2024.

The draft is over, and we know where these rookies have landed.  So now it’s time to look at how they performed in college.  It will give us a good indication of what to expect now that they are in the pros.

This profile features the RB out of Oregon, Bucky Irving.  Let’s dive in.

Player Overview

The Tampa Bay Bucs drafted Irving in the fourth round of this year’s draft. His landing spot could have been worse, but it is not ideal.

Rachaad White was the Bucs’ clear bell-cow last season and projects to be the same again. Irving will have to beat our Edmonds and Sean Tucker for the backup role to have fantasy relevance this season.

Prospect Summary

Bucky Irving had a college career that many would be proud to have on their resumes. He began his college football career with one year in Minnesota before completing his final two seasons in Oregon.

As Oregon’s primary running back, he accumulated 2,950 scrimmage yards and scored 21 touchdowns. Many were high on him during the draft season, but then he disappointed at the combine. The showing seemingly doused the hype building on him following his last season at Oregon, which brings us to his strengths and weaknesses below.

Fantasy Value

An early third-round rookie pick in this year’s drafts seems fitting for Irving, given his landing spot situation. However, given who he is going around in rookie drafts, I would much rather have one of the rookies listed in the graphic above than Irving because they have clearer paths to snaps this season than Irving.
