The Guaranteed Grand Man Is Available!
The time has come for the Glazer family and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to give Mike Evans one final contract. He has done everything he possibly can to earn what he deserves. He finished 2023 with another 1,000-yard campaign with 1,255 yards and 13 touchdowns. Iron Mike has always stayed within 1,000 yards in his entire career, no matter who his QB has been. Regarding fantasy, he has finished an incredible seven times in the top 10 for WR. Last year, according to CBSsports.com, his ADP was 81 overall, and he finished as the WR4. He was drafted alongside Jerry Jeudy, Mike Williams, and Jahan Dotson. The Bucs should give him what he is looking for, which could be around $30 million annually. If the price is too steep for the Glazer blood, then I’ll throw a couple of darts on a possible landing spot for the future Hall of Famer in Mike Evans.
Kansas City Chiefs
Yes, the back-to-back champs should back the Brinks truck up for Mike Evans. As great as Patrick Mahomes is, the Chiefs have got to get a true #1 WR. This past season shows us why, throwing 4,183 yards, his lowest total since 2019. This year definitely would have been his lowest ever because in 2019, Mahomes played 14 games, throwing for 4,031 yards. He also produced his most insufficient numbers in fantasy scoring, finishing as the QB8 behind Jared Goff, Brock Purdy, and Jordan Love. Considering where you drafted Mahomes, the ROI could have been better. If Mike Evans brings his talents to the reigning Super Bowl champions, his ADP in 2024 will skyrocket to the top 20. I’ll go out on a limb and say he has a career year in Kansas City catching 100 balls (which he’s never done before) and adding 1,500 yards. Mike Evans would be a cheat code for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Detroit Lions
Can you imagine Mike Evans on the opposite side of Amon-Ra St. Brown? My goodness. It’s not unthinkable as the Lions, according to spotrac.com, have the seventh most cap space in the league with $61 million. Jenna Laine, who covers the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for ESPN, previously reported that Evans values the guaranteed dollars over any length of a potential contract. Having him in the Motor City would be a great football move, but not so much for fantasy football. He’s Mike Evans, so I’m still giving him his 1,000 yards, but touchdowns will regress dramatically with all the weapons surrounding him. He and St. Brown would make a dynamic duo but cannibalize each other in production. The real winner would be Jared Goff.
