2024 IDP Redraft Target: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah

2024 IDP Redraft Target Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah | Fantasy In Frames

Hey, folks, Nate Marcum here. Let’s talk about a linebacker who ended the season strong for the Cleveland Browns last season and has the potential to keep his hot streak in performance going for IDP Fantasy managers this season. Let’s talk about the 2024 IDP Redraft Target: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah.

From Week 12+, when establishing a full workload, JOK had the following ranks:

  • 11 Pressures (2nd among all LBs)
  • 17th in Solo tackles
  • 1st in INT
  • 19% run-tackle rate

While it is difficult to predict fantasy performance after witnessing multiple years of inconsistency, 2024 could be the year that he outperforms expectations and takes that leap into LB1 territory!  Once JOK started seeing a “near” three-down role after Week 12 in 2023, he put his full fantasy arsenal on display.  During that stretch, he was among the league leaders at linebacker in multiple fantasy categories.

Another area of optimism is on the offensive side of the ball.  The Browns will be without Nick Chubb for a large chunk of the 2024 season, and it would be a safe guess to assume that the Browns will not be at the top of the league in offensive snaps again, thus leading to more plays on the defensive side of the ball.  Last year, the Browns faced the lowest number of plays, yet JOK was still able to deliver as the LB21.

Signing of Jordan Hicks. Will JOK revert back to the 70% snap volume? Will Jim Schwartz deploy multi-linebacker sets more frequently? Is it unlikely to see an every-down role? The ups and downs could exist, which may be frustrating to fantasy managers.

Defensive assignments: It has been shown that linebackers playing in a zone-heavy scheme outperform their “man-coverage” counterparts. Well, Cleveland does operate heavily out of man coverage, limiting the potential upside of JOK’s tackle volume. Couple this with his uncertainty of a “three-down role” and the concern exists.

The Cleveland Browns’ defensive dominance should continue into 2024, and JOK should be a key piece to that puzzle.  From an IDP standpoint, there will be some really big weeks when his involvement is near a three-down role.  There could also be some instability with Jim Schwartz at the helm and the addition of Jordan Hicks, who had been inactive for the past few weeks due to an undisclosed injury.  While Hicks has returned to practice, his adjustment could give JOK the upper hand at snap percentage!
