Here we go! We are rolling into the new 2024 fantasy football season. Here at Fantasy In Frames, we’re looking at some dynasty targets and the best values out there on the market. Let’s take a look at 2024 Dynasty Target: Zay Flowers.
Player Overview
The Baltimore Ravens offense had one of the best seasons in its history, statistically speaking. Zay Flowers was their leading receiver for the year and helped the Ravens to a 13-4 record. The second-year receiver looks to build on his 2023 success.
While the offense added running back Derrick Henry, it did very little for the wide receiver corps. It let go of Odell Beckham Jr., the second-leading receiver on the team. That will free up some targets for quarterback Lamar Jackson to distribute.
Currently, the Ravens have Flowers, Rashod Bateman, and Nelson Agholor as their starters. Behind them are a whole slew of backups that will see very few targets in the style of offense the Ravens want to run. Flowers looks poised to be the wide receiver one for the upcoming season.
Player Summary
The biggest thing to remember about Flowers is that he was a rookie for the 2023 season. While his production wasn’t to the level of Puka Nacua, statistically, Flowers was the fifth-leading rookie receiver, behind Rashee Rice, Jordan Addison, and Sam LaPorta.
Flowers had a 24% target share in the offense with an opportunity for more in 2024, with Beckham gone. While the threat of Mark Andrews looms as Jackson’s number one read option in the offense, he still saw the volume to maintain a top 25 season with Andrews back and healthy.
The Ravens are traditionally a run-first offense. With the signing of Derrick Henry, I look forward to them continuing with that trend. However, Flowers and Andrews will be the first reads as receivers, and Flowers should have the same kind of volume heading into 2024.
Trade Value
The Dynasty League Football (DLF) trade analyzer has Flowers going for a mid to late-round rookie pick. For those who haven’t had their rookie drafts yet, that would equate to a player from the 1.07-1.09. The rookies going in that area are quarterback J.J. McCarthy and wide receivers Xavier Worthy and Brian Thomas Jr.
Flowers’ value has risen in the off-season, with the Ravens cutting Beckham and not adding any more depth in the draft. Now is a good time to trade for Flowers, maybe as a package deal with a few other assets. Trading for Flowers straight up right now seems a bit pricey to me, especially with the Ravens run game being their main focus.
