Today, I’ll be kicking off our 2024 Dynasty Target article series by writing about a player I believe you should try to acquire at the right price and situation. Let’s get right down to it and start talking about my 2024 Dynasty Target: D.J. Moore!
Player Overview
D.J. Moore was traded to the Bears last season from Carolina and had eight touchdowns on 70 catches and over 1,000 yards with QB Justin Fields. Now, we face the possibility that he will start over with a rookie quarterback, even though the predicted pick as of this moment is the sensational prospect Caleb Williams. Head Coach Matt Eberflus and new Offensive Coordinator Shane Waldron must address WR depth in 2024 to help open up more opportunities for Moore. They just added veteran OL Ryan Bates to help protect whoever is under center and RB D’Andre Swift to help the backfield be more efficient. Moore is only 26 and could be that consistent playmaker a rookie QB needs in order to find early success in their career. The Bears have one of the easier predicted schedules in 2024, which I believe will keep Moore as a Top 15 WR.
Player Summary
Moore is the WR1 in Chicago, but the QB situation makes me slightly hesitant. That being the case, I am by no means off him completely. When assessing my team’s needs, if I need a WR1, he makes sense as a dynasty target. He had his best season thus far last year with an inconsistent Fields under center. If the Bears get another capable WR to help downfield, then Moore could have back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. He played an average of 90% of the snaps last season, and I don’t expect that to change with the new OC. I expect that only to increase since OC Waldron is known for opening up his receivers. Bears players have reported him as a great teammate and “overall player.” So, if he gets a rookie quarterback, I could see them as a dynamic duo for seasons to come based on what I perceive their chemistry could be.
Trade Value
Dynasty League Football (DLF) has assessed the current trade value of D.J. Moore to be an early to mid-first-round pick in single quarterback (QB) leagues and a mid-first-round pick in Superflex leagues. I would consider acquiring Moore and trading someone like DK Metcalf for him because I see more upside for D.J. with a potential new QB and OC. Depending on the needs in a 1QB dynasty league, an early 1st could be rookie WR Odzune, TE Bowers, or even QB Williams (because Harrison should be first in 1QB formats), so I’d rather the veteran than the pick here. In SuperFlex formats, I like my picks, especially the first 1.01-1.06, so I might not trade until post-draft to see where everyone lands. Though it depends on WR need on my dynasty roster. If in a SuperFlex league, I have an RB like James Cook or Montgomery and need a top WR, I’d offer a lower RB and late 2nd for Moore and see if it takes!
