Player Overview
If Quay Walker can harness his temper on the field into more constructive fantasy output, we have the making of an elite IDP option.
Quay enters his 2nd year after leading all rookies in Total Tackles and solo Tackles. In addition, he led all rookie LBs in QB pressures, stops, and pass breakups. An all-around linebacker who excels in coverage and effectively makes the tackles in front of him. While playing alongside De’Vondre Campbell limits some upside, if he can earn more snaps (82% in ‘22), both his ceiling and floor improve.
While there are limitations if not a “three-down linebacker”, his athleticism provides an upside that is hard to mimic. Last year he had the 13th most blitzes among LBs, and turned those into an 18% pressure rate. Combine his ability to get to the passer and elite coverage ability (50% catch rate/2nd among LB) and it’s hard to find too many better all-around LBs; especially at 23.
Fantasy Summary
A clear path for Quay to be one of the best values in balanced IDP scoring this year, with his ability to get to the QB and disrupt the passing game in coverage. My concerns are that he doesn’t surpass the 85% snap rate and will rely on a high-efficiency rate to produce as an LB2. The Packers have been known to play with one linebacker on run plays, which could plague his upside. Overall, as he is my LB15, I project his athleticism to stand out and force Joe Barry’s hand for steady playing time.
