Player Overview
After a season cut short due to injury, Divine Deablo is looking to carry over the success he has shown in limited opportunities. Dating back to 2021, Deablo hasn’t played an entire season’s worth of games, yet still has fantasy managers eager to dance with the Devil.
Despite only playing >30 snaps in 13 games during his career, Deablo has averaged a healthy 8.3 tackles/game in those starts. After a solid end to 2021 (41 tackles from Wk 13-18), he picked right back up where he left off in 2022. From Weeks 1-8 (he only played 2 snaps in week 9), he was tied for 7th in tackles, 7th in LB targets, and had the 3rd most run-play tackles.
The Raiders brought in Robert Spillane to start alongside Deablo, but there is nobody in the LB room to challenge for snaps despite that. The Raiders and fantasy managers hope for an entire season to see the actual ceiling of an exciting talent.
Fantasy Summary
Even though his career, to date, hasn’t been one that elicits trust in a worthwhile IDP investment, the writing is on the wall for a breakout. While it’s hard to ignore the lack of NFL games played, it isn’t hard to ignore his per-game talent. During his final stretch of games as a starter in 2021, Deablo finished as an LB3 despite having Denzel Perryman competing for tackles. Fast forward to 2022, where Deablo was firmly entrenched in the LB2 conversation until the broken forearm.
I am banking on a return to health and a return to the LB2 conversation for Deablo. We saw the athletic ability and mentality to be around the ball at all times, and it’s only a matter of time until he reaps the rewards of increased turnovers. If Deablo can keep pace with the 8+ tackles/per game, and chip in some turnovers, it’s safe to say that Deablo is a sure bet to finish inside of his LB33 ranking (Fantasy Pros ECR)
