Here is our breakdown of 2023 Dynasty Rookie Prospect: Jaxon Smith-Njigba!
Player Overview
- A 5-star recruit who is the next product of the Ohio State wide receiver conveyor belt
- He had a quiet freshman season before exploding onto the scene with around 1600 yards in his sophomore season before an injury-plagued final season
- In his sophomore season, he played with first-round WRs Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave – outpacing both in receiving yards
- In fact, Garrett Wilson has stated that Smith-Njigba is the best of the three
- In 2021, JSN ranked 4th in yards per route run across all FBS wide receivers with at least 50 targets, per PFF
- One key thing to mention – over three years with Buckeyes, JSN played around 85% of his snaps from the slot
- Not a huge concern for me, given the likes of Kupp, CeeDee Lamb, ARSB, and Keenan Allen have all had success with >50% snaps in the slot in the NFL
- All about being in the right system, and hopefully, we will see him play a bigger role on the outside as he becomes more comfortable
